ISOKO-NORTH COUNCIL

Isoko North Local Government Area, which was created out of the defunct Isoko local government on 27th August, 1991 is bounded in the North by Ndokwa west, in the East by Ndokwa East, in the South by Isoko South and in the West by Ughelli North LGAs respectively.
The population figure of the local government area is put at 144,155 by the national census conducted in 2006. The local government is made of 20 wards.
Isoko North Local Government Area is an oil producing area with preponderance of oil mineral exploration and exploitation activities year in year out. There are about 40 oil wells in the Local Government Area belonging to Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) with a production level estimated at over 29,000 b.p.d (i.e Owhe Field or Flow station producing about 11,000 b.p.d and Ogini Flow station, including Isoko Deep about 18,000 b.p.d). There are other oil facilities in the LGA belonging to NAOC and some indigenous companies.

To ensure the speedy infrastructural development of every Community within the Local Government Area using limited available resources as well as provide quality social services, as it exists in the urban areas, thereby making the Local Government Area compete favourably with the urban Local Government Areas, and discourage rural to urban migration.
